On June 1, Kim Seung-youn, Chairman of Hanwha Group, expressed his deepest condolences and offered words of comfort to the bereaved families regarding the accident that occurred at Hanwha Aerospace's Daejeon plant. He also instructed the formation of a special response task force (TF) at the group level.

View original imageIn a statement issued that day, Chairman Kim said, "I am devastated to hear that employees who were doing their best at work have lost their lives or been injured," adding, "Please ensure the highest respect for the deceased employees, provide full support for the bereaved families, and carry out recovery efforts for the victims, including treatment of the injured, with utmost sincerity and speed."
The accident at Hanwha Aerospace's Daejeon plant that morning resulted in five deaths and two serious injuries. The plant is known as a manufacturing facility for solid fuel propulsion systems.
Following Chairman Kim's instructions, the group established a special response TF that day, appointing Vice Chairman Ye Seung-joo as the team leader. This move signals the group's intention to fully mobilize all available resources for the accident recovery.

CEO Son stated, "As the company's CEO, I feel a heavy responsibility for this accident," and emphasized, "The company will provide all necessary support to the bereaved families and will take full responsibility for the treatment and recovery of the injured."
Hanwha Group reiterated its commitment to thoroughly determine the cause of the accident. The accident is currently presumed to have occurred during the cleaning process of the launch vehicle propellant (explosives).
