Doosan Enerbility Secures 840 Billion Won CHP Plant Contract in Saudi Arabia
330MW Plant to Be Built Near Jafurah Gas Field
Targeting Completion by 2029
Doosan Enerbility has secured a contract for the construction of a combined heat and power (CHP) plant in Saudi Arabia, valued at approximately 840 billion won.
On June 1, Doosan Enerbility announced that it had signed a construction contract for the 'Saudi Jafurah Combined Heat and Power Plant Phase 2' with a consortium formed by Korea Electric Power Corporation and Saudi Aramco.
Korea Electric Power Corporation is participating as the business developer and operator, overseeing project development and operation. Doosan Enerbility will deliver the project as an EPC contractor, handling the entire process, including design, equipment supply, installation, construction, and commissioning.
The Jafurah CHP Plant Phase 2 will be built near the Jafurah gas field, approximately 400 kilometers east of Riyadh, the capital of Saudi Arabia. The project aims for completion by 2029. Once finished, it will supply 330MW of electricity and 465 tons of steam per hour to the nearby gas field.
The main equipment, steam turbines, will be manufactured and supplied by Doosan Skoda Power, a subsidiary of Doosan Enerbility.
Lee Hyunho, Head of Plant EPC BG at Doosan Enerbility, stated, "Following the successful award of the Jafurah CHP Phase 1 project in 2022, we have now secured the Phase 2 project as well. With large-scale power generation projects expected to continue in Saudi Arabia and across the Middle East, we will leverage our accumulated technological expertise and experience to strengthen our market presence."

Doosan Enerbility has recently been expanding its business by consecutively winning major power generation projects in the Middle East. After securing a contract last year for the construction of a peaking unit gas power plant for Qatar Electricity & Water Company (QEWC), the company has also signed contracts this year for the construction of the Saudi Ruma 1 and Nairiyah 1 gas combined cycle power plants, as well as the PP12 gas combined cycle power plant.
