Prime Minister Kim Makes Emergency Visit to Hanwha Aerospace Explosion Site with 7 Casualties
Prime Minister Kim Minseok will visit the Hanwha Aerospace facility in Yuseong-gu, Daejeon on June 1, where a fatal explosion occurred.

View original imageAccording to the Office of the Prime Minister, Kim received a briefing on the incident in the afternoon and immediately headed to Daejeon. He is expected to meet with those on site to assess the extent of the damage.
Immediately after the accident, Prime Minister Kim issued an urgent directive to the Ministry of the Interior and Safety, the National Fire Agency, and the National Police Agency, instructing them to "mobilize all available equipment and personnel to focus on extinguishing the fire and rescuing people, and to do their utmost to prevent any further casualties."

Earlier in the day, at around 10:59 AM, an explosion occurred at the Hanwha Aerospace Daejeon Plant in Oesam-dong, Yuseong-gu, Daejeon. As of now, five people have been confirmed dead and two others injured. Hanwha Aerospace develops and manufactures large propulsion systems and tactical surface-to-surface systems at its Daejeon site.
