Indicted for Violating Narcotics Control Act
Abuse of Propofol
Nursing Assistant Who Supplied Drugs to Porsche Driver Worked at the Clinic
The head of a plastic surgery clinic has been indicted and detained on charges of supplying propofol to a Porsche driver who caused a crash after driving under the influence of drugs and falling from Banpo Bridge in Seoul.
On June 1, the Seoul Western District Prosecutors’ Office announced that it had indicted and detained a man in his 40s, identified as A, the head of a plastic surgery clinic located in Seocho-gu, Seoul, on charges of violating the Narcotics Control Act.
A Porsche driver, who was driving under the influence of drugs and crashed off Banpo Bridge into the Han River riverside, appeared at the pre-trial detention hearing held on February 27th at the Seoul Western District Court in Mapo-gu, Seoul, covering his face with clothes and seated in a wheelchair. He also faces charges of failing to properly fulfill his duty to manage and supervise narcotics within the clinic.
The clinic in question is where B, a former nursing assistant, worked. B is suspected of supplying propofol to the Porsche driver who caused the Banpo Bridge crash in February. On the day of the accident, B was found to have been seated in the passenger seat while the driver stayed in the parking lot of a building in Seocho-gu. A significant number of the propofol vials discovered in the vehicle after the accident were confirmed to have come from A’s clinic. In March, police conducted a search and seizure of the clinic, securing prescriptions and records of pharmaceutical inflow and outflow as part of their investigation.
