Factory Operations Halted; Central Industrial Accident Response Headquarters Established
Kim Younghoon, Minister of Employment and Labor, ordered a swift response to the explosion that occurred on June 1 at the Hanwha Aerospace Daejeon Plant in Oesam-dong, Yuseong-gu, Daejeon.

View original imageMinister Kim instructed the Ministry of Employment and Labor to immediately establish the Central Industrial Accident Response Headquarters, and the Daejeon Regional Employment and Labor Office to set up the Regional Industrial Accident Response Headquarters. Ryu Hyuncheol, Head of the Industrial Safety and Health Headquarters, was urgently dispatched to the site in Daejeon. Immediately after the accident, the head of the Daejeon Labor Office went to the site and ordered a halt to factory operations. The Ministry and the Daejeon Labor Office also plan to supervise the investigation into the cause of the accident.
Through his Facebook page, Minister Kim stated, "I extend my deepest condolences to the workers who lost their lives in the explosion and offer my heartfelt sympathies to their bereaved families," adding, "We will thoroughly identify the structural causes of this accident and conduct a swift and rigorous investigation."
