Ministry of Justice Publishes Casebook on Supplementary Investigations of Crimes Against Women, Children, and People with Disabilities
Publication of Casebook Highlighting Exemplary Supplementary Investigations by Prosecutors
The Ministry of Justice has published a casebook highlighting exemplary supplementary investigations by prosecutors that uncovered the truth behind crimes targeting women, children, and people with disabilities.
According to the Ministry of Justice on June 1, this book was released five months after the first edition was published in December of last year. The 44-page casebook features 20 major cases.
Notable cases include: ▲ the "Haedeun" case, in which the biological mother's intent to murder her 4-month-old infant was uncovered; ▲ a case involving the director of the Saekdongwon facility for people with severe disabilities, who committed abuse and additional rape crimes; ▲ a group sexual assault case involving middle school girls in Sejong City; and ▲ a case involving Jeong Myeong-seok, leader of JMS, who repeatedly sexually assaulted female followers.

These cases share the characteristic that it was difficult to obtain accurate statements from the victims, making it challenging to prove the charges in the initial investigation stages. Nevertheless, prosecutors succeeded in uncovering the facts through supplementary investigation. The casebook is available for free to the public on the official website of the Ministry of Justice.
