Carrot Real Estate: "Average Home Search Takes 2.4 Months... 3.8 Properties Visited Before Contract"
Survey Results Reveal Moving Trends for 2026
Carrot's real estate service, "Carrot Real Estate," released the results of a moving experience survey conducted on users who completed actual transactions on June 1.
By age group, people in their 30s spent the most time searching for a home, averaging 2.7 months, and visited the highest number of properties at 4.1 on average. In contrast, people in their 20s had the shortest search period at 1.4 months among all age groups. This result is analyzed as reflecting the housing characteristics of people in their 20s, who are more likely to sign monthly rental contracts.
There were also clear differences in search duration and number of visits depending on the type of contract. Buyers, who deal with larger transaction amounts and typically stay longer, spent an average of 3.6 months searching and visited 4.3 properties. By comparison, jeonse (long-term lease) tenants searched for 2.5 months and visited 4.1 properties, while monthly rental tenants searched for 1.8 months and visited 3.5 properties.

This was followed by ▲lower housing costs (17.8%) ▲moving to a better area (13.1%) ▲switching transaction types (from jeonse/monthly rent to purchase) (10.5%) ▲starting marriage or cohabitation (9.1%) ▲children’s school district (8.8%), in that order.
As for the helpful information (multiple responses allowed) in the process of searching for a home and making a final contract decision on Carrot Real Estate, detailed property descriptions and photos ranked first at 62%. This was followed by ▲reviews from people who have lived there (35.6%) ▲verified property tags (34.6%) ▲brokerage reviews (19.8%). This suggests that, beyond simple property conditions, information that verifies actual living experiences and the reliability of listings plays an important role in decision-making.
