Beer 4 Cans for 10,000 Won, Haagen-Dazs Half Price... CU Launches Summer Discount Event
Beer, Highball, and Ice Cream Sales Up Over 20% Year-on-Year
On June 1, CU announced that it would launch a large-scale discount promotion throughout June on major summer products, including beer, highball, ice cream, and freshly brewed coffee, to mark the start of the summer season.
Following the government’s recent provision of subsidies to offset high fuel prices, consumer sentiment has improved and sales of related products have surged. In fact, from May 18 to May 28, CU’s beer sales increased by 26.6% year-on-year, highball sales by 25.1%, and ice cream sales by 30.2%. Notably, sales of premium ice creams such as Haagen-Dazs soared by 58.4%.
In response, CU has prepared a large-scale special event centered on popular summer products, including a beer discount campaign inspired by “prices from 10 years ago,” with cans priced below 2,500 won, and a 50% discount on Haagen-Dazs, among other deals.
First, in the alcoholic beverages promotion, CU is offering a “buy more, save more” deal on the leading domestic beers, Hanmac and Kelly. An eight-can pack of Hanmac or Kelly is being sold for 16,000 won, bringing the price per can down to around 2,000 won. The top-selling imported beer, Asahi six-pack bundle, is available for 12,900 won.
Additionally, popular imported beer four-can bundles, including Stella, Heineken, and Hoegaarden, are available for 10,000 won. For a total of 17 different beer bundles, customers can receive an extra 2,000 won discount when paying with Naver Pay Money or Points, on top of the base discount. If purchased together with any seafood side dish, the discount can reach up to 3,000 won.
CU’s exclusive Jim Beam Highball Peach is being sold at over 40% off the regular price, with four cans for 9,000 won. Differentiated highball products, including two types of Absolut Fresh Fruit Highball, Espa Lemonade Highball, and Peaceminusone Black and Red Highball, are available at 12,000 won for three cans. Customers can mix and match between these products, and an additional 2,000 won discount is offered when paying with Naver Pay Money or Points.
The ice cream promotion has also been strengthened. All Haagen-Dazs premium ice cream products are available with up to a 50% discount when purchasing two or more. This includes a 40% product discount, and an additional 10% discount is applied when scanning the Pocket CU membership QR code and paying with BC Card, Woori Card, Toss Pay Money or Account, or KakaoPay Points or Money. Additionally, a bundle promotion is underway for 11 popular Binggrae stick ice cream products such as Bibibig, Nougat Bar, and Babambar, offering ten pieces for 5,600 won.
Furthermore, when purchasing get Coffee iced Americano and sandwich, hamburger, salad, or refrigerated dessert together, customers can receive up to a 1,500 won discount by paying with Nonghyup Card, Hana Card, or Samsung Card registered in CU Pay. The “Mix Presso” frappe, made by blending get Espresso, is available for 1,000 won when scanning the Pocket CU membership QR code and paying with Nonghyup Card, Samsung Card, or Toss Pay Money or Account.
