HLB Biostep Subsidiary Secures Ministry of Environment Project for Chemical Substance Hazard Test Data Production
HLB Bioscode, a subsidiary of HLB Biostep, has been recognized for its capability to conduct chemical substance toxicity tests based on national Good Laboratory Practice (GLP) standards.
On June 1, HLB Bioscode announced that it had signed a contract for the "2026 Chemical Substance Hazard Test Data Production Project" organized by the Ministry of Environment and secured a project worth approximately 3 billion won. This national project aims to strengthen the domestic chemical substance safety management system and produce hazard test data required for the chemical substance registration and evaluation system. HLB Bioscode will participate in the project jointly with KLS Bio as co-contractors.
HLB Bioscode is expected to take charge of the entire project, including preliminary review of test substances, production of test data, and preparation of final reports. KLS Bio will be responsible for human hazard testing and environmental toxicity, evaluating the human impact and environmental safety of chemical substances. Both companies plan to leverage their respective expertise to produce highly reliable hazard test data, thereby contributing to the strengthening of the national chemical substance safety management system.
This project will conduct various toxicity tests based on the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development Test Guidelines (OECD TG) and the "Regulation on Chemical Substance Test Methods." HLB Bioscode will carry out the tests through procedures such as production of data for each test substance, establishing test schedules, and obtaining client approvals. The company also plans to provide final deliverables, including reports that comply with OECD GLP standards and results that can be registered for copyright and utilized accordingly.
HLB Bioscode is a GLP-based preclinical and toxicology testing institution, possessing experience and infrastructure for toxicity and safety evaluations in diverse fields such as pharmaceuticals, chemicals, and biomaterials. In particular, leveraging its expertise in toxicopathology, genetic toxicity, repeated dose toxicity, toxicokinetics, and analytical testing, the company aims to successfully carry out this project and further strengthen its competitiveness in the field of chemical substance safety assessment.
