Aroot Secures Stablecoin License from Foreign Financial Authority... Accelerates Global Digital Finance Expansion
Aroot has obtained official approval from a foreign financial supervisory authority for stablecoin issuance, paving the way for the expansion of its global digital financial business. On June 1, the company announced that it had received an official license from the Astana Financial Services Authority (AFSA) in Kazakhstan for the issuance of stablecoins and the operation of its proprietary digital financial platform, FORTA.
This approval is significant as it is not merely a permit for testing or technical validation, but an official license granted by the financial authorities of a country that has completed the institutionalization of stablecoins. In particular, this marks the first time a Korean company has obtained an official stablecoin license from an overseas regulatory body.
Recently, major countries around the world have been integrating the stablecoin market into the regulated sector, establishing a market structure centered on licensed operators. The European Union (EU) has introduced a regulatory framework centered on banks and electronic money institutions through the Markets in Crypto-Assets Regulation (MiCA), while the United States is also accelerating institutional reforms based on the GENIUS Act, which manages issuers of payment-type stablecoins.
The stablecoin business is a field in which licenses are granted only to companies that have secured the ability to comply with financial regulations and ensure operational stability. In fact, the Hong Kong Monetary Authority (HKMA) granted licenses to only two out of 36 first-round applicants, including 'Anchorpoint,' a joint venture involving HSBC and Standard Chartered Bank.
The growth potential of the market is also expanding rapidly. Standard Chartered Bank has forecast that the global stablecoin market capitalization will reach approximately 2 trillion dollars, or about 3,000 trillion won, by the end of 2028. Tether, the world’s largest stablecoin issuer, also posted a net profit of over 10 billion dollars, or more than 15 trillion won, last year, demonstrating high profitability.
With this approval, Aroot has established a business structure that goes beyond simple token issuance to include the actual operation of payment, remittance, and settlement networks. This is because the AFSA license includes not only the authority to issue stablecoins but also the right to operate the platform.
The company stated that, as stablecoins are emerging as a core means of next-generation digital financial infrastructure—such as AI-based automated payments—securing both the license and platform infrastructure will be a strong advantage for future business expansion.
The stablecoin 'USDFT,' which Aroot plans to issue, will operate on a 100% reserve-based structure pegged one-to-one with the US dollar. The company plans to ensure stability and reliability by applying an external accounting verification and reserve management system that meets regulatory standards. Based on this, the company aims to expand its business areas to B2B trade settlement, global remittance, and settlement infrastructure markets.
Aroot commented, "This approval is meaningful not as a simple blockchain project permit, but as official recognition of our license under the global financial regulatory system," adding, "We plan to strengthen practical payment and settlement infrastructure services by expanding connections with global financial networks and partner companies."
