Gyeonggi Province Accepting Applications for “Youth Basic Income” of 250,000 Won per Quarter for 24-Year-Olds Starting June 1
Starting June 1, Gyeonggi Province has begun accepting applications for the second quarter of the “Youth Basic Income” program, which provides 250,000 won in local currency to residents aged 24 each quarter, up to a maximum of 1 million won per year.
The second quarter is open to youth who are 24 years old as of April 1 (born between April 2, 2001 and April 1, 2002). To be eligible, applicants must have their resident registration in Gyeonggi Province and must have lived there for at least three consecutive years or have a combined residency of 10 years or more as of the application date. Foreign nationals, those with unknown residence status, and youth residing in Seongnam City or Goyang City are excluded from eligibility.
Applications can be submitted online or via mobile through the Gyeonggi Province job platform “Jobaba” (apply.jobaba.net) until June 30. The required resident registration certificate is automatically submitted when agreeing to the public MyData service. Basic livelihood security recipients may submit supporting documents separately to receive the entire annual amount as a lump sum rather than quarterly payments.
For those who previously applied and agreed to automatic re-application, they will be included in the review process without a separate application. However, if there are any changes to personal information or if applicants wish to retroactively apply for quarters missed from the third quarter of last year through the first quarter of this year, they must update their information during the second quarter application period. In addition, those who were not selected in the previous quarter will not be automatically included and must submit a new application.
Gyeonggi Province will confirm eligibility by verifying the applicant’s age and residency duration, and will provide 250,000 won in local currency per quarter to selected youth starting July 20. The Youth Basic Income is provided regardless of employment or graduation status, or income and assets, up to a maximum of 1 million won. The local currency provided is valid for three years from the date of issuance and can be used at local currency member stores in the city or county listed on the applicant’s resident registration address.
