Park Geunhye at Seomun Market: "Choo Kyungho Can Revive Daegu's Economy"... Ruling Party Warns of Backfire
Former President Park Geunhye visited Seomun Market in Daegu on the 31st to support Choo Kyungho, the People Power Party’s candidate for Daegu mayor. This is her second campaign appearance, following her visit to Chilseong Market on the 23rd.
On the afternoon of the 31st, around 4 p.m., Park visited Seomun Market in Jung-gu, Daegu, together with Choo and other People Power Party candidates running in Daegu. She said, “I am well aware that the economy in Daegu has been struggling lately and many people are having a hard time,” adding, “The next mayor must be someone who can revive Daegu’s economy, and Choo is the right person for the job.”

Former President Lee Myungbak also visited Haeundae District to support Park Hyungjun, the People Power Party’s candidate for Busan mayor, appealing to voters by saying, “Park is the person who will advance Busan.”
However, the Democratic Party criticized the involvement of former presidents in the People Power Party’s campaign. Secretary-General Cho Seungrae remarked, “The deployment of former presidents Lee Myungbak and Park Geunhye will have adverse effects,” and pointed out, “It’s not as if they are simply unpopular; they are former presidents who were imprisoned for corruption and were removed from office, impeached for their involvement in state affairs manipulation scandals.”

Party leader Jeong Cheongrae commented, “With Lee Myungbak and Park Geunhye out campaigning, this is something that would make former President Kim Daejung rise from his seat,” adding, “We must completely eliminate the remnants of past regressive behaviors that distort democracy and disregard the people, even down to the last embers of rebellion.”
