HD Hyundai Chairman Chung Kisun visited the National Cemetery to pay tribute to the sacrifices and dedication of the patriotic martyrs and fallen heroes, in commemoration of Patriots and Veterans Month in June.
On May 31, HD Hyundai announced that Chairman Chung had visited the Seoul National Cemetery to pay his respects on the 29th. Approximately 200 executives and employees, including Moon Jaeyoung, President of HD Construction Equipment, participated in this memorial activity.
Chairman Chung visited the Memorial Tower at Seoul National Cemetery, offering flowers and incense to honor the patriotic martyrs and fallen heroes. He then joined a maintenance effort at Section 25, which is twinned with HD Hyundai, removing weeds and cleaning the gravestones.
In March of this year, Chairman Chung also paid tribute to the sacrifices and dedication of Korean War veterans by laying flowers at the Korean War Memorial in the Manila National Heroes Cemetery during his schedule with the Korean economic delegation in the Philippines.
On the same day, HD Construction Equipment signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the Ministry of Patriots and Veterans Affairs at Seoul National Cemetery to build a memorial facility honoring UN veterans. The signing ceremony was attended by Minister Kwon Oeul of the Ministry of Patriots and Veterans Affairs and HD Construction Equipment President Moon Jaeyoung, with HD Hyundai Chairman Chung Kisun and Ethiopian Ambassador to Korea Dessie Dalkie Dukamo also present.
Under the agreement, HD Construction Equipment will support the construction of overseas memorial facilities honoring UN veterans and provide construction equipment necessary for the projects. The first overseas memorial facility will be established in Addis Ababa, the capital of Ethiopia, which was the only African country to dispatch ground troops during the Korean War.
HD Hyundai continues to support the families of veterans and national merit recipients as well. HD Korea Shipbuilding & Offshore Engineering and HD Hyundai Heavy Industries have alternately contributed 20 million won annually since 2022 to support navy bereaved families and children of navy personnel in financial difficulty. The HD Hyundai 1% Sharing Foundation also continues its gratitude and respect by providing living expenses and daily necessities to descendants of national merit recipients.
Since 2021, HD Construction Equipment has been supporting the improvement of aging residential environments for families of national merit recipients through the "House Remodeling Project" in cooperation with the Ministry of Patriots and Veterans Affairs. The company plans to support improvements for a total of 21 households by the end of this year.
