50s Man and His Older Brother and Sister-in-law Found Dead in Succession in Nonsan...Possible Financial Dispute
Police: "Case will be closed as 'no right of prosecution' if no further developments"
A man in his 50s and his older brother and sister-in-law were found dead in Nonsan, South Chungcheong Province, prompting a police investigation. Police are focusing on the possibility of murder based on witness statements indicating there was a financial dispute among them, and are looking into the circumstances of the incident.
According to Yonhap News on May 29, based on a missing person report filed at around 7 p.m. the previous day, police began searching for a man in his 50s, referred to as Mr. A. They discovered Mr. A dead alongside a pesticide container in a rice paddy in Yeonmu-eup, Nonsan.
While questioning Mr. A’s wife, who had filed the missing person report, police also found the bodies of Mr. A’s older brother, Mr. B (in his 50s), and his sister-in-law, Ms. C (also in her 50s), inside a storage room at a house in Yeonmu-eup.
Police investigations revealed that Mr. A had ongoing conflicts with his brother and sister-in-law over financial issues. Based on signs of foul play found on the bodies of Mr. B and Ms. C, police are also considering the possibility that Mr. A killed his brother and sister-in-law before taking his own life by ingesting poison. Accordingly, autopsies have been requested from the National Forensic Service, and police are further investigating the family to clarify the exact circumstances.
