Windows Shattered, Walls Damaged... Man in His 60s Fires Slingshot at Neighbor's Home
A man in his 60s was arrested by the police after he repeatedly used a slingshot to recklessly damage windows and the exterior walls of neighboring buildings over the course of a month.
The Suyeong Police Station in Busan announced on May 29 that it had booked a man in his 60s, identified as Mr. A, on charges of aggravated property damage and is currently investigating the case.
According to the police, from mid-April to mid-May, Mr. A allegedly opened a window at his residence in Mangmi-dong, Suyeong-gu, and fired metal balls with a slingshot, shattering the windows of nearby houses.
Mr. A is also suspected of firing metal balls at the exterior walls of neighboring buildings on three separate occasions. However, these particular acts did not cause actual damage and have been classified as attempted crimes.
The police began tracking the suspect after receiving a related report in mid-May and apprehended Mr. A on May 18. The investigation revealed that Mr. A had purchased the slingshot online and used it to commit the offenses.
