Gimhae Rooftop Fire Burns Telecom Base Station Cables ... Phone and Internet Outages
A fire is burning in an outdoor air conditioner unit on the rooftop of a building in Mugye-dong, Gimhae-si, Gyeongnam.

At around 12:09 p.m. on May 29, a fire broke out at an outdoor air conditioner unit on the rooftop of a building in Mugae-dong, Gimhae-si, Gyeongnam.
Due to the fire, around 60 people in the building evacuated and there were no casualties. However, as some of the LG Uplus base station cables installed on the rooftop burned, communication disruptions occurred in certain areas such as Mugae, Naeoe, and Yulha.
The fire was extinguished by the fire authorities who responded to the scene at around 12:43 p.m., but citizens are still experiencing inconvenience, saying that not only phone and internet services but also mobile payments are unavailable.
It was also reported that some voters at early polling stations experienced delays in participating in the voting process as they attempted to verify their identity using mobile identification.

Currently, cable restoration work is underway, and the police and fire authorities are working to determine the exact cause of the fire and assess the extent of the damage.
