SKT Launches Integrated LTE and 5G Plan in the 20,000-Won Range... Introduces Safety Data Option
"Data Safety Option" to Be Offered Across All Plans Starting in July
SK Telecom announced on the 29th that it will reform its subscription plan system so that customers can enjoy personalized benefits simply by choosing a plan without worrying about data.

Starting in July, the company will introduce a "Data Safety Option" (QoS) to all plans, allowing users to continue using data at reduced speeds without limits, even after exhausting their data allowance.
On May 29, SK Telecom announced a reform of its subscription plan system, which centers on integrating 5G and LTE plans and providing basic data even after customers have used up their plan's data. Beginning in early July, the company will launch new plans by applying the "National Data Safety" feature and will sequentially roll out updates to its bundled products.
First, on July 2, SKT will release the new "Best·Lite" plan, which unifies the 5G and LTE subscription systems. The "Best" series, consisting of five options (ranging from 89,000 won to 129,000 won per month), offers unlimited data, while the "Lite" series, made up of eleven options (ranging from 39,000 won to 79,000 won per month), provides data in tiers from 6GB to 250GB.
The "Best·Lite" plans are notable for removing the distinction between network generations. Previously, even if a customer used a 5G device, subscribing to an LTE plan meant access was limited to the LTE network. With the new plans, customers can use both 5G and LTE networks as long as their device supports it.
Ten existing plans, including "T Plan Save" (33,000 won per month) and "T Together Customized" (27,830 won per month), will also be converted to the unified 5G·LTE plans. Starting July 2, new subscriptions to 67 existing 5G and LTE plans will be discontinued. However, customers already on these plans can continue using them even after new sign-ups are stopped.
Beginning July 1, the "National Data Safety" feature will be offered free of charge to all 107 LTE plans that previously did not provide data safety (QoS). "National Data Safety" allows customers to continue using data at speeds up to 400kbps after they have used up the basic data included with their plan.
If customers do not wish to have "National Data Safety" applied, they can opt out through T World (website or app), at a nearby SKT retail store, or by calling the 114 customer center. As "National Data Safety" becomes free, customers who previously paid for the 400kbps data safety add-on service will have their subscription automatically canceled and will be switched to the new free service.
Launch of New "Best·Lite" Plans...Lowering Barriers for Bundled Plans
The bundled product system will also be expanded and restructured. SKT will modify its "Yojum Family Bundle," which previously required both a mobile line and an internet line, so customers can now sign up with just mobile lines. This change enables all types of users to subscribe, regardless of whether they use internet service. Previously, older bundled plans required an offline retail visit and could only be combined among family members, but these barriers have been lowered.
SKT has also revamped the "Yojum Family Bundle" so that two-person households who do not use landlines, cohabitants prior to marriage registration (single individuals), and new customers can sign up and immediately receive discount benefits.
Older bundled products such as "T+Internet (Personal)," "T+Internet (Family)," and "T Together Family Discount" will only be available for sign-up until July 31. New subscriptions will no longer be accepted thereafter, but existing subscribers will retain their discount benefits.
The system has been refined to make it easier for customers to enjoy benefits by age group and plan type. Customers on the "Best·Lite" plans will automatically receive additional benefits that previously required enrollment in special age-targeted plans. For example, when a customer using Lite39 turns 65, they will automatically receive an extra 1.5GB of data. Youth (ages 19 to 34) and teenagers (18 and under) will receive benefits such as 50% off coffee coupons, 50% off movie tickets, and 50% off T Roaming (Baro Plan).
The online video service (OTT) and T Universe subscription benefits provided by each plan will also be made more intuitive. Previously, to receive OTT subscription benefits under the old plans, customers had to first enroll in one of T Universe's lifestyle services and then link their selected T Universe product to choose their preferred OTT service. With the new "Best" plans, customers can select and use their desired OTT service immediately after subscribing, streamlining the process.
For customers who use a variety of devices beyond smartphones, SKT plans to offer installment discounts for second devices (such as smartwatches and tablets) to customers on the "Best 109" plan or higher.
Jae-woong Yoon, Head of Product & Brand at SKT, said, "We hope that this reform of our subscription system will make it easier and more convenient for customers to use our telecommunications services," adding, "SKT will continue to supplement and improve our service systems to enhance customer benefits."
