Samsung Epis Holdings Establishes R&D Center in China
Establishment of a Subsidiary for R&D Purposes
Strengthening New Drug Development Capabilities with a Focus on ADCs
Samsung Epis Holdings is establishing a local research and development (R&D) hub in China to strengthen its new drug development capabilities. The company aims to accelerate the development of next-generation biopharmaceuticals by leveraging the talent and technological expertise of the Chinese bio ecosystem, with a primary focus on the antibody-drug conjugate (ADC) sector.
On the 29th, Samsung Epis Holdings announced that it has recently established a wholly owned subsidiary, “Samsung Shengwu Keji (China) Co., Ltd.,” in Changping District, Beijing, to conduct biopharmaceutical research and development operations.
This subsidiary marks the first global R&D hub for Samsung Epis Holdings, a bio investment holding company launched in November last year. The company explained that it pursued the establishment of the Chinese R&D center to secure an ADC-focused technology platform and to enhance new drug development capabilities.
Changping District, where the center will be located, is a high-tech bioindustry cluster that houses the Zhongguancun Life Science Park. It is considered advantageous for securing bio research infrastructure and specialized personnel, as it is adjacent to major universities such as Peking University and Tsinghua University.
The Samsung Bioepis China R&D Center is scheduled to officially open in June. It will be launched as a research and development organization operated by recruiting local professional talent.
