Line 2 Underground Tunnel Located at the Site
"This is a Safety Measure...We Ask for Your Understanding"
Due to the emergency demolition of the remaining structures of the Seosomun Overpass, the last train on Seoul Subway Line 2 between Hongdae Ipgu Station and Euljiro Ipgu Station will depart one hour earlier on May 28, 2026.
Seoul Metro announced on this day that train operations on Line 2 between Hongdae Ipgu Station and Euljiro Ipgu Station will end at midnight on May 29, 2026. This section includes Hongdae Ipgu, Sinchon, Ewha Womans University, Ahyeon, Chungjeongno, City Hall, and Euljiro Ipgu stations. Trains on other sections of Line 2 will run as usual until 1 a.m. on May 29, 2026.
A Seoul Metro official stated, "We decided to move up the last train time by one hour, considering that there is an underground tunnel of Line 2 between Chungjeongno Station and City Hall Station beneath the area where the Seosomun Overpass demolition work is being carried out," adding, "We ask for citizens' understanding, as this is a safety measure."
To minimize inconvenience for passengers in the affected section, Seoul Metro will deploy 12 buses as alternative transportation.
