Smilegate Launches Chinese Service for "Chaos Zero Nightmare"
Collaboration with Tencent Leads to Over 5.5 Million Pre-Registrations
Tops China's Apple App Store Free Download Chart Amid Enthusiastic Reception
Smilegate announced on May 28 that it has launched the Chinese service of the dark fantasy roguelike role-playing game (RPG) "Chaos Zero Nightmare" (abbreviated as Kazena).
Developed by Super Creative, the game is set in a world overtaken by a chaotic entity known as Chaos. Players collect subculture-style (Japanese anime-inspired) characters and create battle strategies by combining each character's unique "card deck." The game was released in 174 countries worldwide in October of last year and surpassed 1.11 million daily active users (DAU) within one month of launch.
The service in China is managed by Tencent. According to Smilegate, the game received an enthusiastic response, reaching the number one spot in the free download ranking on China's Apple App Store immediately upon its official launch on this day. Previously, the two companies communicated with users through a local closed beta test (CBT) held in March, which resulted in more than 5.5 million users participating in pre-registration.
To celebrate the official launch in China, Smilegate is unveiling the new operator "Fei" in advance and is holding a variety of events. The new character is scheduled to be officially introduced in Korea and other global regions around this summer. In addition, Smilegate plans to continue close collaboration with Tencent to ensure the successful establishment of "Kazena" in the Chinese market.
