On May 28, the Presidential Commission on National Unity appointed Park Hang-seo, head of the support team for the North and Central America World Cup, as an ambassador for the Commission at a ceremony held at the Government Complex Seoul.
Ambassador Park is a leading figure in Korean football history, having played a pivotal role in achieving the historic semifinals at the 2002 World Cup. He later gained widespread acclaim as head coach of the Vietnam national football team, earning admiration across borders for his outstanding achievements. In particular, he has been highly regarded both domestically and internationally for his genuine communication with players and inclusive leadership that bridges generations and cultures.
The Commission noted that Ambassador Park's leadership aligns closely with the values of communication, tolerance, solidarity, and inclusiveness that it pursues. The Commission explained, "His ability to unite a team beyond conflicts, respect individual differences, and achieve common goals embodies the kind of national unity our society needs today."
At the appointment ceremony, Ambassador Park stated, "Through the 2002 World Cup, we witnessed how strong the Republic of Korea can become when all citizens unite."
