Pledges to Link Tourism, Agriculture, and Drone Industry for Northern Region Development
Yanghyun Baek, candidate for Mayor of Pocheon from the People Power Party, announced his pledges for the northern region, outlining plans to establish a self-reliant economic base centered on the Hantan River, where tourism, agriculture and livestock, and future industries coexist.

View original imageOn the 27th, Candidate Baek stated, "The northern region is a new axis of growth for Pocheon," and added, "Through balanced development policies that connect tourism, agriculture, residential environment, and future industries, I will make this area a place where people want to stay and return to."
The core pledges include: ▲ Establishing a world-class healing tourism zone centered on the Hantan River ▲ Fostering a self-reliant economy through the convergence of tourism and agriculture ▲ Improving livestock odor and transitioning to eco-friendly agriculture and livestock practices ▲ Enhancing living SOC and residential conditions ▲ Strengthening future industry infrastructure such as drones.
In detail, for Gwanin-myeon, he plans to promote the designation of a Peace Economy Special Zone in the Naengjeong-ri area and create a smart livestock complex in Samyul-ri. He also aims to establish a new residential model through an urban regeneration project and the development of a retirement village. Additionally, the pledge includes utilizing idle land to build a park golf course and supporting the installation of artificial turf at Gwanin Middle and High Schools.
For Yeongbuk-myeon, the plan is to build the 'Dooreondooreon' youth education and culture complex and promote the conversion of vacant houses into accommodation facilities. There are also plans to develop Yeongbuk-myeon into a hub for stay-type tourism by renovating the aging commercial district at Sanjeong Lake tourist site, expanding waterfront leisure facilities, and creating the Busocheon Dullegil walking trail.
In Idong-myeon, the candidate pledges to build a multi-purpose gymnasium and a complex community center that includes a kids café. Plans also include improving the Yeongpyeongcheon stream, expanding bicycle paths, and increasing ecological garden-style tourism content to strengthen family-friendly living and tourism infrastructure.
For Yeongjung-myeon, the pledges include supporting the installation of facilities to reduce livestock odor and projects to establish solid fuel facilities for manure, thereby building an eco-friendly livestock system. There are also plans to create the 38th Parallel Peace Park and Hillmaru tourism and recreation facilities, as well as to gradually expand the urban gas supply.
In Hwahyeon-myeon, the candidate plans to create a healing and recreation-themed tourism village and to promote a garden-style rural experience project. There are also plans to expand the foundation for historical and ecological tourism by developing the Gwangam Yi Byeok Trail and discovering new tourism resources in Unaksan Mountain.
For Changsu-myeon, the plan is to create a carbon-neutral solar pension self-reliant village and expand the Hanyeoul park golf course to 36 holes. The candidate also pledges to promote resident welfare and revitalize the local economy by launching income-generating projects linked to experiential tourism and constructing a gateball field.
For Ildong-myeon, the candidate announced plans to simultaneously pursue innovation in both future industries and agriculture by expanding city gas and LPG pipelines, converting to smart farming and fostering high-value-added crops, strengthening job creation linked to national defense drones, and building K-AI drone infrastructure.
