Park Geun-hye Visits Jinju, Rallies Full Support for People Power Party Campaign
"Candidates Who Can Revitalize the Economy"
Supporters Gather for People Power Party Campaign
Former President Park Geun-hye visited Jinju, Gyeongnam ahead of the June 3 local elections to campaign in support of the People Power Party candidates. This move is interpreted as an attempt to rally traditional conservative supporters amid signs of division within the local conservative camp.
On May 27, former President Park visited Jinju Central Market, where she met with citizens and merchants, appealing for support for the People Power Party candidates. Supporters gathered at the market entrance from early in the morning, creating a welcoming atmosphere by shouting phrases such as "Stay healthy" and "President Park Geun-hye."
Former President Park shook hands and exchanged greetings with citizens as she toured various parts of the market. She was also seen wearing a bandage on her right hand, a result of pain from years of political activity, as she continued her schedule, which drew particular attention.

She continued, "The candidates who are with me have sufficient ability and experience to revitalize the local economy," emphasizing, "If you, the citizens, trust and support them, I expect that they will definitely restore the struggling economy."
It is known that this visit to Jinju was made at the request of the local political community. Although Jinju is traditionally regarded as a conservative stronghold, in this local election, there are concerns that the conservative vote could be split due to independent candidates and alliances formed by some former and current members who have left the party.
In particular, as an independent Jinju mayoral candidate and several former and current local council members who left the People Power Party have formed an alliance, the election is developing into a multi-candidate contest. Accordingly, the People Power Party expects that former President Park’s visit will have a significant impact on reuniting its support base.
