Weverse Company Appoints Former Kakao Vice President Yang Ju-il as New CEO

On May 27, Weverse Company announced the appointment of Yang Ju-il as its new CEO. Yang will officially assume his role on June 1.
The company explained that this appointment is part of its growth strategy to advance the services of the global fandom platform Weverse and enhance its business execution capabilities.
Yang began his career as a developer at NHN and later served as CEO of NHN Ticket Link, NHN Bugs, and NHN Travel Doctor. He also played key roles in content and platform service operations and strategy formulation, having held positions such as Vice President at Kakao (Head of KakaoTalk Division), CEO of Ground X, and CEO of AXZ.
Weverse is a platform that serves as both a communication space for artists and fans worldwide and a one-stop service hub for all fandom activities. Launched in June 2019, as of April this year, the platform hosts around 180 teams of artists and has exceeded 150 million cumulative application downloads. More than 10 million users from 245 countries and regions around the world access Weverse every month. As the service enters its eighth year, Weverse plans to focus on strengthening its leadership in fandom platform services in the global entertainment market and advancing its business operations.
