Analysis of Monsoon-Related Civil Complaints Over the Past Three Years
Complaints Concentrated in June and July, Accounting for 43.1%
Facility Maintenance and Other Findings Shared with Relevant Agencies
A "civil complaint advisory" has been issued ahead of the monsoon season to prevent the recurring flood damage that occurs every year.
The Anti-Corruption and Civil Rights Commission announced on May 27 the results of its analysis of 11,578 civil complaints related to "monsoon preparedness" collected over the past three years via the Civil Complaint Information Analysis System. Complaints related to monsoon preparedness were concentrated between June and July, when the monsoon season is in full swing. During this period, 4,991 complaints were filed, accounting for 43.1% of all cases analyzed.

View original imageThe main issues raised in these complaints included: demands for the preemptive maintenance of drainage and road facilities; concerns about retaining wall collapses and landslides; and calls for fundamental improvements in areas prone to frequent flood damage.
The Commission issued the civil complaint advisory and suggested specific improvement measures to relevant agencies, including strengthening facility maintenance, enhancing flood prevention measures in vulnerable areas, and improving the quality of disaster notifications.

Meanwhile, according to the Commission's big data trends for April, there were 1,371,385 civil complaints filed last month, an increase of 3.4% from the previous month. Compared to the same month last year, the number rose by 6.8%. By region, Gyeonggi Province recorded the highest month-on-month growth rate at 30.2%, largely due to complaints demanding the connection between the Wirye Samdong Line and the Wirye Sinsa Line.
