On May 27, the Small and Medium Business Corporation announced that it held a meeting for robotics companies in the Daegu and Gyeongbuk regions at Pacific X Korea, an automotive parts manufacturer located in Dalseong-gun, Daegu, to listen to on-site challenges and policy suggestions from participants.

This meeting was held as part of the Corporation’s field-oriented management initiative called "Going to the Field, Solving with the Corporation." In particular, the event also served as a follow-up to the "Daegu-Gyeongbuk Robot Industry Value Chain Competitiveness Enhancement Business Agreement," which was signed on May 13. The gathering provided a venue to discuss ways to strengthen the competitiveness of the robotics industry in connection with the "Regional Industry Growth Project 2.0," which is being promoted in line with the government’s "Five Poles, Three Special Zones" policy direction.

More than 10 representatives from robotics (component) manufacturing and user companies in the Daegu and Gyeongbuk regions attended the meeting, along with Sukkyoon Kang, Chairman of the Small and Medium Business Corporation, and officials from the Corporation’s headquarters and local offices and branches. The companies expressed industry concerns, including ▲expanding customized policy-based funding, ▲securing and enhancing the capabilities of AI and robotics professionals, ▲support for overseas market entry, and ▲ensuring supply chain stability.

The participating companies emphasized the urgent need to cultivate professionals in manufacturing AI and robotics, as the demand for robots is rapidly increasing due to the spread of AI and digital transformation (DX). They also suggested the need to expand financial support for robotics companies.

Chairman Kang stated, "Daegu and Gyeongbuk are growing as major domestic hubs for the robotics industry, based on the Global Innovation Special Zone for AI and Robotics and the National Robotics Test Field," adding, "The Small and Medium Business Corporation will actively reflect on-site feedback in our policies and support programs to help robotics companies grow and enhance their competitiveness."

Meanwhile, prior to the meeting, the Corporation held an "On-site Board of Directors Meeting," where it shared plans for the operation of the Corporation’s fund and the direction for supporting small and medium-sized enterprises. Afterwards, the participants continued their on-site communication by touring the production facilities of Pacific X Korea.
