HLB Life Science R&D Selected for Ministry of Health AI Oncology Drug Development Project
HLB Life Science R&D has been selected for a government project on artificial intelligence (AI)-driven drug development, overseen by the Ministry of Health and Welfare.
According to HLB Life Science on May 26, the project has a total research budget of 2.2 billion won and will be carried out over three years until 2028. Arontier will participate as the lead organization, while the Daegu-Gyeongbuk Medical Innovation Foundation (K-MEDI hub) and HLB Life Science R&D will serve as joint research institutions. The goal is to use AI to identify oncology drug candidates from the initial discovery stage to the lead compound stage, with HLB Life Science R&D responsible for the non-clinical trials in this project.
HLB Life Science will validate the development potential of AI-based drug candidates through non-clinical research, including efficacy evaluations and animal testing of candidate substances. Additionally, the company plans to accumulate foundational data on the efficacy and safety of the candidates identified through this project, thereby increasing the potential for further development.
