The forum was designed as a venue to discuss practical alternatives focused on inconveniences residents experience in their daily lives.
On this day, Son identified the expansion of transportation infrastructure, the top priority for Unjeong residents, as his foremost task. He stated, "We will mobilize all political resources to ensure the extension of Subway Line 3 to Paju is included in the 5th National Rail Network Construction Plan, which is set for final announcement this July," and added, "I will establish a dedicated transportation task force under the mayor’s office to accelerate the implementation of these pledges."
He also presented plans to alleviate commuting inconveniences by pursuing the early opening of the Seohae Line Unjeong extension project, which officially began construction in May, and by increasing and adding bus routes connecting to GTX-A Unjeong Jungang Station.
Son expressed a strong commitment to expanding safety and healthcare infrastructure for residents. Regarding the attraction of a university hospital within the Paju Medical Cluster (PMC), he emphasized, "We will propose extraordinary incentives, such as providing land free of charge and supporting construction costs, to ensure the establishment of a general hospital at the university level and a 24-hour emergency medical system."
Additionally, he announced plans to promptly construct a second city hall, a second police station, and a second fire station in response to the growing administrative demand following Unjeong New Town’s population surpassing 300,000.
On the sensitive issue of the waste incineration plant, Son said, "We will pursue an 'exclusive Paju City incineration plant' that does not accept waste from other municipalities," adding, "By actively adopting a Build-Transfer-Operate (BTO) model, we will reduce the city’s financial burden and establish a revenue structure from selling surplus thermal energy, transforming the facility into an environmentally friendly project that benefits the community."
Beyond these, Son also proposed various resident-centered policies, including: reviewing the division of Haeeoreum Village and Byeolharam Village into separate administrative districts; developing a cultural complex and Gureummaru Park within the special planning zone of GTX Unjeong Jungang Station; supporting the rapid construction of a new office for the Gyeonggi Institute of Economic Science and Promotion; building a landmark library in Unjeong 6-dong; and securing land for a new high school in Byeolharam Village to address overcrowded classrooms.
