Former President Park Geun-hye is expanding her political activities by visiting the Chungcheong region following her trip to Daegu amid the June 3 local election season. This move is interpreted as an effort to rally conservative voters as the local elections develop into a closely contested race.

View original imageAccording to political sources on the 25th, former President Park visited the birthplace of her mother, Yuk Young-soo, in Okcheon, Chungbuk, earlier that morning.
Speaking to reporters at the site, Park said, "If you trust that (the candidates) will keep their promises, the people will recognize that and make their choice."
On the afternoon of the same day, Park will head to Daejeon to visit the campaign office of Lee Jang-woo, the People Power Party's candidate for Daejeon mayor. She will then proceed to Sanseong Market in Gongju, South Chungcheong, to meet merchants and local citizens.
Previously, on the 23rd, Park campaigned in support of People Power Party candidate Choo Kyung-ho for Daegu mayor at Chilseong Market in Daegu. It is also reported that she is scheduled to campaign this week in the Busan, Ulsan, and South Gyeongsang regions, as well as in Gangwon.
