Fire at Hwaseong Multi-Family Residence: Grandson in 20s Dies, Grandmother in 80s Injured
Police to Investigate the Exact Cause of the Fire
A fire broke out at a multi-family residential building in Hwaseong, Gyeonggi Province.
According to the police on May 23, a fire occurred at around 12:47 p.m. on the fourth floor of a five-story multi-family housing unit located in Manse District, Hwaseong, Gyeonggi Province.
Due to this fire, a resident in their 20s, referred to as A, died, while an individual in their 80s, referred to as B, sustained second-degree burns to the face.
It was confirmed that A was the grandchild of B, and only the two of them were at home at the time of the fire.
Four residents on the fifth floor were rescued by firefighters, and the remaining eight residents evacuated on their own, so there were no additional casualties.
After receiving a report that "black smoke is coming from the fourth floor of the villa," the fire authorities dispatched 27 vehicles and 75 personnel, extinguishing the fire completely in about one hour.
