Samsung Electronics Union Voter Turnout Surpasses 74%... Choi Seungho Says "Vote of Confidence in June"

The voter turnout for the 2026 wage and collective agreement provisional deal by the Samsung Electronics union has surpassed 70% in just two days. Choi Seungho, Head of the Samsung Electronics Branch of the Federation of Korean Trade Unions, announced that he would conduct a vote of confidence in June, regardless of the outcome of this vote.
According to the Samsung Electronics Branch of the Federation of Korean Trade Unions on May 23, as of 10:40 a.m. that day, the voter turnout stood at 74.27%. Out of a total of 57,290 eligible voters, 42,551 participated. This means more than 7 out of 10 eligible union members cast their votes within approximately 20 hours since the vote began at 2 p.m. the previous day. Voting will continue until 10 a.m. on May 27, and if a majority is in favor, the provisional agreement will be ratified.
The labor and management sides included criteria for paying special performance bonuses in the DS division in this provisional agreement. The payout rate for common organizations was set at 70% of the memory business division's rate, and the 10.5% pool for special performance bonuses will be calculated based on operating profit, excluding personnel expenses such as OPI provisions.
