Oh Se-hoon's Camp: "Every Seoul Mayoral Election Has Had a One-on-One Debate... Kim Eo-jun Moderating Is No Issue"
"Debate Is Not About Eloquence, But Verifying the Feasibility of Pledges"
High Likelihood That the May 28 NEC Debate Will Lack Substance
Oh Se-hoon, the People Power Party candidate for Seoul mayor, once again urged Jeong Won-oh, the Democratic Party candidate for Seoul mayor, to participate in a one-on-one debate on May 23.
In a statement on the same day, Ho Joon-seok, spokesperson for Oh Se-hoon's campaign, emphasized, "There has never been a Seoul mayoral election in recent years without a one-on-one debate," and called on Jeong's camp to accept the proposal. Ho added, "It's not too late. There are still five days left until early voting. Even after early voting begins is fine. Even if Kim Eo-jun moderates, that's acceptable. Even if you want to bring an aide and make it a 1:2 debate, that's also fine." He stressed that any condition would be accepted as long as a one-on-one debate could be held.

It is an opportunity for citizens to verify the feasibility of the candidates' pledges and the competence of the mayoral candidates to implement policy," and criticized, "If you believe you can win just by running away, that is a serious disregard for the citizens of Seoul."

Regarding the debate hosted by the National Election Commission scheduled for May 28, spokesperson Ho argued, "The debate hosted by the National Election Commission, held just seven hours before early voting, is not a one-on-one debate but a four-way debate," and added, "When the same amount of time is divided among four candidates in a short period, there is a high possibility that the discussion will be watered down and lack substance."
