According to a report by Yonhap News on May 22, Suseong Police Station in Daegu is investigating a man in his 60s, referred to as Mr. A, on charges of violating the Public Official Election Act after he assaulted a campaign worker for Park Saerom, a People Power Party candidate running for Suseong District Council. Mr. A is accused of assaulting a campaign staff member in his 60s, referred to as Mr. B, and then fleeing the scene at Beommul Intersection in Suseong District at around 5:50 p.m. the previous day while Mr. B was conducting campaign activities.
At the time, Mr. A reportedly approached Mr. B, who was campaigning on the street, hurled insults at him, and then committed violence, including headbutting Mr. B in the face. After nearby citizens intervened, Mr. A left the scene. During the incident, Mr. B sustained injuries, including a split lip, which are believed to require approximately 10 days of medical treatment.

She continued, "Assaulting a campaign worker is not merely an act of violence against an individual. It is an act that tramples on the hopes for the future of our neighborhood and is a clear election crime that undermines the value of 'elections,' the most sacred festival of liberal democracy."
