BMW 7 Series Tops Imported Large Sedan Sales in 2026
No.1 Imported Large Sedan Sales from January to April
Strong Consumer Response Driven by Advanced Options and Diverse Powertrain Choices
Personalized Experience Enhanced with Custom Ordering Service 'BMW Individual'
Distinctive Experiences and Benefits Offered Through the BMW Excellence Club
The 7 Series, BMW's flagship luxury sedan, has topped the sales chart for imported large sedans for four consecutive months this year.
According to the Korea Automobile Importers & Distributors Association (KAIDA), the BMW 7 Series, including the all-electric BMW i7, sold a total of 2,148 units from January to April this year, making it the best-selling imported large sedan in Korea. This figure represents an increase of approximately 9.4% compared to the same period last year and further widened the gap with competing models in the same segment compared to March.
This achievement is even more notable because it is evenly distributed across the diverse powertrain portfolio of the BMW 7 Series. The BMW 740i xDrive led the way with 1,062 units sold, accounting for about half of the total sales. The BMW 740d xDrive also recorded 656 units sold, a 17.4% increase year-on-year. During the same period, the BMW i7 sold 273 units, while the plug-in hybrid BMW 750e xDrive sold 157 units, demonstrating balanced performance among electrified models as well.
'Power of Choice' Strategy Hits the Mark...Up to 300,000 Possible Option Combinations
The ongoing success of the BMW 7 Series in Korea's imported luxury large vehicle market can be attributed to BMW's 'Power of Choice' strategy. As diversified lifestyles have increased demand for both internal combustion and electrified models that offer the brand's signature design and product quality, the extensive range of choices provided by the BMW 7 Series is resonating strongly with consumers.
'Power of Choice' is BMW's unique strategy of applying various powertrains—including internal combustion, all-electric, and plug-in hybrid—within a single model series. The goal is to deliver the brand's heritage, distinctive design language, and the 'joy of driving' consistently, even in the era of electrification.
In line with this strategy, the BMW 7 Series offers a broad lineup: the gasoline-powered 740i xDrive, the diesel-powered 740d xDrive, the plug-in hybrid 750e xDrive, the all-electric i7, and the high-performance i7 M70 xDrive. This meets the needs of customers who seek a consistent luxury experience regardless of powertrain type.
In addition, BMW Korea has enhanced the personalized experience with its custom vehicle ordering service, 'BMW Individual.' This program is available to buyers of the top models—750e xDrive, i7 xDrive60, and i7 M70 xDrive—and provides a wide array of customization options in areas such as exterior color, exterior line, interior trim, seat materials, and colors, resulting in up to 300,000 possible combinations.
Furthermore, BMW has introduced new exclusive benefits to ensure a special customer experience even during the waiting period from contract to delivery. Customers purchasing vehicles through the BMW Individual program can enjoy long-term test drives of the same series model as their ordered car during the wait, and can experience the premium benefits of the BMW Excellence Club even before delivery.
Membership Services Exclusively for Luxury Customers
The differentiated benefits BMW Korea provides to 7 Series owners are also a major factor driving its popularity. In particular, the 'BMW Excellence Club,' a membership service exclusively for BMW Luxury Class customers—including 7 Series owners—offers a unique luxury membership experience. The program goes beyond simple vehicle care, continually expanding personalized luxury lifestyle programs that deliver a high level of satisfaction.
The most noteworthy benefit of the BMW Excellence Club is access to extraordinary experiences that cannot be assigned a monetary value. A prime example is the VIP invitation to the Cannes Film Festival in France. Each year, BMW Korea selects customers by lottery to attend the Cannes Film Festival as VIPs, offering them exclusive experiences such as walking the red carpet, attending official screenings, test driving luxury class vehicles, and staying at top-tier hotels.
Starting this year, BMW Korea has also launched 'Lifestyle Program Curation by Excellence.' Members can select from curated monthly programs such as golf lessons, art exhibitions, whiskey classes, wellness experiences, career mentoring, and luxury sound sessions—participating in up to two events per year.
