Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency Conducts Two-Day Interview with Seongdong Police Chief
The chief of Seongdong Police Station in Seoul is facing allegations of using an emergency response electric vehicle, which is an official government car, for commuting purposes. The police are expected to initiate an internal inspection into this matter.
On the 20th, the Audit Information Division of the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency announced that it had conducted interviews with Kwon Mi-ye, Chief of Seongdong Police Station, at the station over two days starting the previous day. The Audit Information Division has reportedly begun initial fact-finding, including securing the dispatch records of the official electric vehicle used by Chief Kwon.
Chief Kwon is suspected of commuting to and from work using the official electric vehicle at Seongdong Police Station, instead of the assigned executive vehicle, after the implementation of the vehicle rotation system for public institutions.
The vehicle in question is designated for Seongdong Police Station’s first response team and is required to remain on standby inside the station between 6 p.m. and 9 a.m. the following day in preparation for emergency dispatch situations.
