The event was attended by key figures including Seunghyun Kim, Head of Onsan Smelter at Korea Zinc, and Chong Rae Park, President of UNIST.
The donated funds will be used to upgrade a 220-seat lecture hall in the UNIST College of Engineering into an advanced educational space equipped with a high-resolution LED display and sound system. Construction of the new facility will begin in December, aiming to be operational for the start of the first semester of 2027.
The lecture hall will be named the "KZ Troika Drive Hall," inspired by Korea Zinc's future growth strategy, "Troika Drive." This space will host not only regular classes but also technology forums, industry seminars, recruitment briefings, and joint research programs.
With this donation, Korea Zinc's cumulative development fund contributions to UNIST have increased to 700 million won. Both sides are also expanding cooperation in joint research on secondary batteries and new materials, as well as in artificial intelligence (AI) smart process education.
