Man in His 30s Arrested for Drunk Driving and Signal Violation
A man in his 30s has been arrested for causing the death of a motorcycle driver after driving under the influence of alcohol.
On the 18th, the Cheongju Cheongwon Police Station in North Chungcheong Province announced that it had arrested Mr. A, a man in his 30s, on charges of dangerous driving resulting in death under the Act on the Aggravated Punishment of Specific Crimes, after he crashed his car into a motorcycle while driving drunk and caused the death of a college student driver.
Mr. A is accused of driving his car under the influence of alcohol and making a left turn at an intersection in Naesu-eup, Cheongju, at around 11 p.m. on May 16, when he collided with a motorcycle traveling straight in the opposite direction, resulting in the death of Mr. B, a driver in his 20s.
According to the police investigation, Mr. A's blood alcohol concentration was above the license revocation threshold (0.08% or higher), and he was found to have violated a traffic signal at the time of the accident.
