About 40 Residents Evacuate Overnight
Fire Extinguished in 20 Minutes; No Casualties Reported
A fire broke out overnight at Tower Palace, a landmark high-rise residential complex in Dogok-dong, Gangnam-gu, Seoul, prompting residents to evacuate.
According to fire authorities on May 17, the blaze started at around 10:51 p.m. on May 16 on the 29th floor of Tower Palace in Dogok-dong, Gangnam-gu, Seoul.
As a result of the fire, about 40 residents and others living in the building had to make an emergency evacuation outside in the middle of the night. Fortunately, thanks to the swift evacuation, there were no casualties or injuries from smoke inhalation.
Upon receiving the report, the fire department dispatched 67 personnel and 21 pieces of equipment to the scene to carry out firefighting operations. The fire was completely extinguished in about 20 minutes by the firefighters who responded.
