Baeksang Young Theater Award Nominee "Habup"... Searching for a Lost Daughter in the Desert
Opening at Daehakro Naon Theater on May 22
The play "Habup," which was nominated for the Young Theater Award at the 62nd Baeksang Arts Awards, will be performed at Daehakro Naon Theater from May 22 to June 14, 2026.
"Habup" is a road-movie-style play about Youngwon, who suffers from amnesia, and Yeongha, who cares for Youngwon, as they set out to find a lost daughter in the Arizona desert. The play delicately portrays the healing process between the two characters as they confront each other's wounds in a landscape where the past, present, and fantasy intertwine. "Habup" refers to a powerful sandstorm.
"Habup" is the second collaborative work of Munjibab Theater Company's "6-Month Project." Selected for the Young Artists Support Program by the Korean Theater Association Samilro Warehouse Theater, it premiered in May last year. Since then, it has been chosen as the "Performance We Want to See Again" at Hyehwa-dong 1beonji, selected by the Artistic Committee at the 46th Seoul Theater Festival, and officially invited to the 23rd Busan International Performing Arts Festival.
The play is directed by Park Hanbyeol and stars Kim Seunghwan, Jeong Myeonggun, Kim Seom, Pyo Kyungbin, Jeong Seongjun, and Park Saeeun. Tickets are available for reservation through NOL Ticket.

Munjibab Theater Company was founded in 2019 in Busan, mainly by alumni of the Department of Theater and Film at Kyungsung University. The company has drawn attention for presenting uniquely distinctive works at festivals such as the Miryang Performing Arts Festival, the Busan International Performing Arts Festival, and the Seoul Future Theater Festival. Last year, it presented "Drilling," a psychological play reimagining Shakespeare's "Othello"—one of his four major tragedies—set at the Jang Bogo Antarctic Research Station, as the first collaborative work of the 6-Month Project.
