Gangnam Police Station Arrests Suspects for Special Theft
Second Offense Following Previous Incident Last Month
Two teenagers who stole cash from a donation box at Bongeunsa Temple in Gangnam-gu, Seoul, have been apprehended by the police.
According to the police and other sources on May 15, the Gangnam Police Station in Seoul has arrested and is investigating a teenage boy, referred to as A, and a teenage girl, referred to as B, on charges of special theft.
The two are accused of breaking into Bongeunsa Temple at around 3:30 a.m. on May 12 and stealing offerings from the donation box before fleeing the scene. The police caught the suspects in Songpa-gu, Seoul, on the afternoon of May 13, the day after the crime. It has been reported that the boy, A, was previously arrested on April 20 for entering Bongeunsa Temple, damaging the donation box, and stealing money. The police, citing concerns about repeated offenses, requested an arrest warrant for A, but the prosecution reportedly rejected the request.
