Krafton announced on May 15 that 'Subnautica 2', developed by creative studio Unknown Worlds, surpassed 1 million copies sold on its early access launch day. The game also ranked No. 1 in global sales on Steam, and user reviews remain 'Overwhelmingly Positive'.
Krafton explained that anticipation was evident even before launch, as seen in the response to video content. The 'Cinematic Trailer' released on April 30 surpassed 10 million cumulative views, while the 'Gameplay Trailer' unveiled on May 9 exceeded 5 million views.
'Subnautica 2' is the official sequel to the 'Subnautica' series, which pioneered the ocean survival genre. For the first time in the series, up to four players can cooperate in multiplayer mode, strategizing and exploring together to survive. The game was simultaneously released on Steam, Epic Games Store, and Xbox Series X|S.
Fernando Melo, Executive Producer of 'Subnautica 2', said, "Early access marks the beginning of a global adventure as players explore unknown depths," adding, "We will keep deepening the survival experience, guided by the voices of players who show us the direction to take."
