View original imageImmediately after registering his candidacy, Choi Hyunduk issued a statement, declaring, "The bundle of documents I submitted today is not simply a registration form, but a solemn calling to take responsibility for the lives of 740,000 citizens of Namyangju, and a resolute promise to restore broken democracy from the ground up."
In particular, Choi Hyunduk emphasized the opening of a "citizen sovereignty era." He stated, "I will be the first in Namyangju to realize the value of popular sovereignty pursued by the Lee Jae-myung administration. The era where the mayor decides and citizens simply follow is over. I promise to make communication and listening my guiding philosophy and to achieve true local autonomy in which the power of citizens lies at the very heart of city administration."
Regarding the current political situation, he commented, "The 12·3 Rebellion is not yet over, and the will of the people is to create a country where common sense prevails and the well-being of citizens is secured, overcoming the threat of insurrection." Referring to himself as a "servant of the citizens," Choi Hyunduk expressed his firm resolve, saying, "I will become a bulwark of Korean democracy and a shield that protects the peaceful daily lives of Namyangju citizens."
Lastly, Choi Hyunduk pledged, "From the very day I am elected, I will dedicate myself wholeheartedly to the safety and comfort of the citizens. I will honor the will of the people, achieve victory, and usher in an era of citizen sovereignty in Namyangju."
