Jungnang-gu Implements Summer Safety Plan... Rose Festival Safety Also Reviewed
30 Tasks in Four Key Areas: Heat Waves, Flood Control, Safety, and Health
Jungnang-gu, Seoul, announced on May 11 that it will implement a comprehensive summer safety management plan for five months, from May 15 to October 15. The district will also strengthen safety management for the 18th Jungnang Seoul Rose Festival, which opens on the same day.
On May 8, the district held a "Safety Management Measures Inspection Meeting" to discuss the comprehensive summer safety plan and measures for the Rose Festival. The district reviewed control plans for areas expected to have large crowds and re-examined emergency response systems. It also checked the deployment of safety personnel and on-site response procedures.
The summer plan consists of 30 tasks across four areas: heat waves, flood control, safety, and health. For heat waves, the district will operate a phased crisis response system and expand mitigation facilities such as cooling shade structures and the "Jungnang Ongdalsaem." Protection measures for vulnerable groups, including the elderly living alone and the homeless, will also be strengthened.
In the flood control area, the district will operate the Disaster and Safety Countermeasures Headquarters for natural disasters and activate a six-level emergency response system according to weather advisories. Advance inspections have already been completed for seven rainwater pumping stations, twelve floodgates, and 200 areas vulnerable to flooding.
To prevent major public hazards, the district conducted pre-inspections of 49 public facilities and is also carrying out safety checks on disaster-prone facilities such as multi-use facilities, construction sites, and gas supply facilities.
In the health sector, the district will operate emergency quarantine services to prevent infectious diseases and use insect attractant lamps and automatic sprayers to control the spread of mosquitoes and pests. The district will also strengthen pre-inspections and hygiene education at group meal facilities such as schools, daycare centers, and kindergartens to prevent food poisoning.
