Trump Warns: "If Iran's Military Targets U.S. Vessels, They Will Disappear from the Face of the Earth"
'Project Freedom' to Aid Merchant Ships Trapped in the Strait
U.S. President Donald Trump has issued a warning to Iran not to target American vessels.
In an interview with local media on the 4th (local time), President Trump, referring to the "Project Freedom" initiative to assist merchant ships trapped in the Strait of Hormuz, stated, "If Iran's military attempts to target American vessels, they will disappear from the face of the earth."
Some observers believe that President Trump used such strong rhetoric as part of his negotiation strategy. However, there is criticism that such language is too extreme for the leader of a democratic nation. In particular, after his remarks about destroying civilization, there have been calls to suspend President Trump's authority under the 25th Amendment.
Meanwhile, in the same interview, President Trump described the U.S. Navy's operation to blockade Iranian ports as "one of the greatest military operations ever conducted."
