KDCA and Gwangju City Discuss Support for Operations
The authorities have conducted an on-site inspection at Chosun University Hospital, which is working to establish the nation’s first specialized hospital for infectious diseases.

This visit was arranged to directly check the construction status of the specialized infectious disease hospital being established as a key response hub for the Honam region, and to discuss support and cooperation measures for its stable operation in the future.
At the meeting held that day, Choi Namgyu, President of Chosun University Hospital; Hongseok Choi, Director of the Infectious Disease Crisis Management Bureau at the Korea Disease Control and Prevention Agency; Song Jeongtae, Head of the Gwangju Epidemiological Investigation Team; and other officials attended, visiting the actual construction site and holding broad discussions on topics including listening to on-site challenges and discussing support for equipment expenses and post-opening operations.
Hongseok Choi, Director of the Infectious Disease Crisis Management Bureau at the Korea Disease Control and Prevention Agency, stated, “The specialized infectious disease hospital in the Honam region is a vital infrastructure that will elevate the national infectious disease response system to the next level,” adding, “The government will spare no effort in providing support and cooperation to ensure its swift completion and stable operation.”
