On May 4, HLB announced the appointment of Eunyeong Yang, former Executive Vice President and Chief Business Officer (CBO) at CHA Bio Group, as President and Head of Bio Business Development. Ms. Yang will oversee technology exports and imports, joint development, and strategic alliances based on HLB's key bio pipelines. She will also lead the overall business strategy and establish global partnerships necessary for commercialization.
Ms. Yang is a licensed pharmacist who graduated from the College of Pharmacy at Seoul National University and holds pharmacist licenses in Korea as well as in Colorado, Florida, and Michigan in the United States. She previously managed product strategy and marketing at Roche Korea and Eli Lilly Korea, and later gained experience in clinical settings and the global pharmaceutical market by working in hospitals and pharmacies in the U.S.
Subsequently, at Samsung Biologics, she was responsible for global sales, leading business development and the expansion of contracts with overseas pharmaceutical companies. Since 2022, she has served as Chief Business Officer and Executive Vice President at CHA Bio Group, overseeing business development for key affiliates such as CHA Biotech, CHA Vaccine Institute, and CMG Pharmaceutical.
This personnel move by HLB Group is seen as a strategy to enhance the commercial potential of its new drug pipelines and strengthen business strategies that lead to real revenue generation after regulatory approval. The company intends to establish an integrated business development system that goes beyond simple technology exports, encompassing global sales, partnerships, supply chains, and market access strategies.
In particular, the combination therapy of Rivoceranib and Camrelizumab is scheduled for U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approval in July, and Lirafugratinib in September, highlighting the increasing importance of business development strategies at this juncture. HLB expects that Ms. Yang’s extensive experience with global pharmaceutical companies and domestic bio firms will allow the company to further refine the commercialization roadmap for its key pipelines.
Jung Hwan Moon, Vice Chairman of HLB Group’s Strategic Planning Division, stated, “With the approval timelines for major pipelines now in sight, it is a crucial time to translate R&D results into actual business achievements. Eunyeong Yang will play a key role in advancing the group's commercialization strategy and expanding global collaboration, drawing on her accumulated experience in global sales and business development.”
