With the Spirit of the 5.18 Rice Ball... 'Gwangju Seo-gu Residents' Day' Ceremony to Be Held on the 7th

Seo-gu Resident Awards Presented to Choi Mujin, Jeong Chanyong, and Kim Seongsook
A "festival of harmony" will be held for residents living in Seo-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City. Various event programs are also planned to further realize the meaning of community.
Seo-gu Office, Gwangju, will hold the 32nd Seo-gu Residents' Day commemorative ceremony at 10 a.m. on May 7 at Deulbul Hall, Seo-gu Office. Seo-gu established May 1 as "Seo-gu Residents' Day" to commemorate its elevation to an autonomous district in 1988, and has held the ceremony every year since 1994.
This year's ceremony was specially prepared to reflect on the significance and value of the new city brand, "Kind City Seo-gu," which was declared at the Seo-gu Residents' Day ceremony two years ago and has since been practiced together with residents.
This year’s event, themed "I Am a Kind Seo-gu Resident," will be held as a participatory and empathetic program where residents take center stage.
During the event, a video featuring "Kind Seo-gu Residents" will be screened. The video includes local small business owners, volunteers, children, marriage immigrants living in Seo-gu, and national fencing athletes who are a source of pride for the district.
Additionally, the situational play "Seo-gu Resident Audition" will feature seniors, office workers, young adults, and homemakers, highlighting Seo-gu’s signature policies such as Cheonwon’s Companion, Integrated Care, Alley Economy 119, and Village Choir as everyday stories, creating a stage where everyone can relate to and enjoy the question, "Who is the best Seo-gu resident?"
The 32nd Seo-gu Resident Awards ceremony will also be held. The awardees are: ▲ Social and Volunteer Services: Choi Mujin, CEO of Nanum Tech Co., Ltd.; ▲ Education, Literature, and Sports: Jeong Chanyong, Head of the Gwangju Regional Headquarters of the Korea Proficiency Association; ▲ Local Economy: Kim Seongsook, Chairperson of Hwajeong Credit Cooperative.
