Man in His 60s Dies by Suicide Two Minutes After Turning Himself In
An incident occurred in Ulsan where a man in his 60s turned himself in after killing his ex-wife, who had come to his apartment to organize belongings, and subsequently died.
According to the Ulsan Bukbu Police Station on May 3, a report was received at 11:48 a.m. from a man in his 60s, referred to as A, stating, "I killed my wife."
Police and fire authorities responded to the call, but A jumped to his death from the apartment just two minutes after making the report and was found dead.
In the living room of A's apartment, his ex-wife, referred to as B, was found collapsed after being stabbed with a weapon.
B was transported to a nearby hospital by emergency responders but ultimately died.
No suicide note was found at the scene.
According to the police investigation, the two had divorced in early April, and on the day of the incident, B visited A's home to organize belongings and fell victim to the crime.
Review of CCTV footage around the apartment showed no evidence that B was forcibly taken.
It was also confirmed that B had previously been issued a smart watch last year.
A police official stated, "There is a record that a smart watch was provided as part of temporary protective measures in the past. However, after the temporary measures were lifted in August last year, the two proceeded with a normal divorce process."
