Lee Sunho, the eldest son of Lee Jae-hyun, Chairman of CJ Group, and head of the Future Planning Group, hosted a town hall meeting for the first time by bringing together open innovation members from affiliates in one place.
According to CJ Group on May 4, the group held an "Affiliate Open Innovation Council Meetup" event on April 20 at the CJ Human Resources Center in Jung-gu, Seoul. At the event, Open Innovation (O/I) organizations responsible for discovering and nurturing startups at key affiliates, including CJ CheilJedang, CJ OnStyle, and CJ Investment, gathered together.

View original imageThe event focused on the cases of "Frontier Labs" (CJ CheilJedang), which celebrated its 5th anniversary, and "Oncubating" (CJ OnStyle), marking its 3rd anniversary. Participants discussed specific synergy models, such as food startups utilizing the logistics network of CJ Logistics, or beauty brands leveraging both the commerce channel of OnStyle and the healthcare infrastructure of Olive Young at the same time.
Lee Sunho emphasized, "If each company has been fighting its own battles for the past five to six years, now is the time to connect with each other for sustainable growth. Rather than making this a one-off event, let's continue the program by sharing progress from various perspectives and creating sales opportunities to ensure the continuity of open innovation."

CJ Group plans to systematize its open innovation strategy with the launch of this council. The group will hold regular meetups twice a year and establish a platform for real-time sharing of investment information among affiliates. In addition, this year, CJ Group will launch a "Corporate Venture Capital (CVC) Professional Training Course" to further enhance the expertise of internal talent.
