Gyeonggi Province to Provide Up to 300,000 Won for Language and Certification Exam Fees to Unemployed Youth
Gyeonggi Province will provide support for language and certification exam fees to unemployed youth.
On May 4, Gyeonggi Province announced that it will implement the "Gyeonggi Youth Capacity Building Opportunity Support Program," which offers up to 300,000 won in support for language and certification exam fees to unemployed youth residing in the province. Applications will be accepted starting May 11. However, support for the same exam is limited to three times per year.
Eligibility will be determined based on unemployment status as of the exam date, not the application date. Short-term workers employed for less than one year are also considered unemployed. The age criteria for youth follow the standards set by local ordinances in each city or county of residence.
The supported exams include 19 types of language tests, Korean history, 541 types of national technical qualifications, 345 types of national professional qualifications, and 99 types of nationally accredited private certifications, for a total of 1,005 types. The subsidy applies to exams taken between December of last year and November of this year.

Kim Sunhwa, Director of Youth Opportunities at Gyeonggi Province, stated, "Supporting exam fees is a foundation for reducing the burden of job preparation for youth and helping them plan their career paths. As youth employment instability continues, including the recent increase in 'youth not in employment,' we will continue to expand the types of qualifications eligible for support and improve the operation of the program to provide more practical capacity-building opportunities for youth."
